Who We Support – Abuse Hurts

Who they are?

Abuse Hurts is a Canadian national registered charity, founded in 1993 by survivor Ellen Campbell, dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of all forms of abuse—childhood, domestic, bullying, trafficking—through education, public awareness, and support services.

Relying exclusively on private and corporate donations, with administrative costs under 12%, they operate programs that partner with police, shelters, and community agencies to deliver:
Educational workshops and awareness campaigns on topics like bullying, sexual violence, and trauma-informed care.

“Delivering Hope” product-supply programs, giving survivors clothing, housewares, hygiene items, and even hosting makeover and re-start days.

DreamBuilds, where volunteers renovate facilities (e.g., police interview rooms, shelters) to make them more supportive environments.
With support from community and corporate partners, Abuse Hurts assists thousands of adults, children, and families across Canada every year, promoting healing, empowerment, and hope for those impacted by abuse.
